Pi Theatre
Located on scenic Granville Island, Pi Theatre was founded in 1984. We produce plays from the world stage, often in translation, that illuminate the commonalities and contradictions of the human experience. We typically do two shows a year. Pi also stewards Prime Placements, a program designed to allow emerging arts professionals and those new to Vancouver to gain experience in the professional arts community.
We are seeking a Prime Placement Administrative Intern to work with us through fall 2011on the planning and execution of our season of live theatre. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain practical experience in arts administration with an established professional theatre company. Administrative Intern Position
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Administrative Intern will work in cooperation with the General Manager, Artistic Director, Board and other volunteers
, in the preparation and execution of the 2011-2012 season, as well as assisting with the ongoing administrative operations of the society.
This is a part-time, four-month position, beginning August 15th, 2011. The position will run through to December 16th, 2011. Office hours are flexible, although some evenings and weekend availability may be required for special events and meetings. This is an unpaid position.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assisting with the administrative functioning of the organization;
• Assisting with the planning and execution of Pi Theatre’s fundraising activities;
• Obtaining in-kind donations;
• Assisting with the administrative aspects of season planning and production.
Qualifications
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proficient at meeting deadlines and comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously;
• Comfortable working with people;
• Good telephone manner;
• Computer literate; comfortable working on a Macintosh platform;
• Familiarity with social media;
• Experience with website content management an asset.
