The Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society (VIBC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to elevating and promoting the Indian dance form of Bhangra. The VIBC organizes two major annual events, the City of Bhangra Festival and the NEXT Bhangra Competition, in addition to partnering with numerous arts and community events throughout the year.
VIBC is looking for a Board Treasurer to manage and report on the society's finances and to take initiative in developing and acting as Chair of the society’s Finance Committee in cooperation with the Festival Manager. This is a one year term position with a commitment of approximately 8 hours per week beginning March 2012.
- Carries out the responsibilities of a member of the Board of Directors
- Assists in the preparation of the budget
- Monitors the budget
- Ensures the Board's financial policies are being followed
- Reports to the Board of Directors and general membership on finances
- Prepares any required financial reporting forms
- Maintains all bank accounts
- Oversees all financial transactions
- Signing authority responsibilities
- Chairs the finance committee
