We have envisioned a unique Community Outreach Initiative, to be led by a skilled volunteer. The project’s goal is to take the opportunity of our upcoming professional main stage production – Confessions of the Other Woman – to nurture relationships with a wide range of communities who may be interested in urban ink.  These communities may be women’s organizations, new urban Aboriginal and intercultural community groups both in the Downtown Eastside and in the greater Vancouver area, students, young professionals, seniors groups etc...Confessions of the Other Woman runs Feb 22 – March 17, in Burnaby, Vancouver and Coquitlam.

The role is very creative and requires an inventive and adventurous spirit. The job may involve; ticket giveaways, creating targeted discount packages, phone calls and meetings to connect with targeted groups, representing urban ink at key events, and offering special invitations to previews. urban ink has a history of creating events that appeal to very different communities—our events have been described as a cross-cultural meeting place for creative expression. Our goal is to find ways to interest all of these diverse audiences in all of our events.

 

Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the General Manager, you will:

  • Develop a list of potential organizations and how to approach them
  • Develop a list of promotional ideas linked to the production, in consultation with the general manager artistic director and marketing manager
  • Develop a timeline and milestones, by which to measure the effectiveness of the campaign
  • Fulfill on the plan

Qualifications: 

People of Aboriginal or of racialized cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This can be a sole position, or a team of two.

You will bring to urban ink:

  • Enthusiasm and experience in one or more of the following: project management, promotions, community development, marketing
  • This position is suitable for a recent graduate, junior career person, or seasoned professional
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; well organized and a self-starter
