Curatorial Intern (volunteer)
Volunteer Information
The Contemporary Art Gallery is seeking a volunteer Curatorial intern to assist with the research and administration of the Gallery’s exhibitions and publications .The Curatorial intern will work with the Executive Director and the Curator and will perform these duties during two eight hour days per week for a minimum of 4 months. The position will be conducted in English and will begin in early June.
Tasks will include:
- Research background information for artists and exhibitions
- Assist in planning and preparation of forthcoming exhibitions
- Assist in production of exhibition publication
- Collaborates with the preparation and display of materials for current exhibitions, including online materials
- Assist in learning and outreach, including artist talks and guided visits
- Assist with receiving and returning exhibition submissions
- General office duties, filing, organization, archiving and correspondence
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience and/or education in curatorial studies, arts administration or fine art or histories of art and design.
- Knowledge of contemporary visual arts in Vancouver, nationally and internationally
- Excellent communication skills; outgoing; organized, professional
- Working towards or completed a Post-secondary level degree/diploma in Visual Arts.
- Excellent writing skills
- Graphic design experience an asset, including experience or skills in adobe creative suite.
