Volunteer Information
Vancouver Bach Choir (VBC) exists to perform large choral works together with a symphonic orchestra and has formed both a Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus to provide a training program for younger singers from 4 through early 20’s. While the singers are volunteers, the Society has appointed music directors for the choirs, a general manager for the adult choir and a program manager for the youth and children’s choruses.VBC has delighted audiences for 80 years and is Canada’s only continuous choral training program from childhood to mature adult. Directors develop and monitor VBC’s long-term strategic direction. They establish policy, plan for the future, help raise funds, and ensure that adequate resources are available for the Society's ongoing work. Directors are elected for a three-year term. Nine of the directors must be active singing members and up to nine may be independent directors from the community at large. Currently we have four independent directors and we are looking for three to replace those who will retire at the next annual general meeting. Board meetings are usually held monthly in Vancouver except for July and August and all directors also serve on Board committees.
