Pi Theatre Productions is a playwright-centred independent theatre company. We bring you local, national and international contemporary playwrights whose voices illuminate the commonalities and contradictions of the human experience. Established in 1984, Pi has evolved into a company that engages with writers who explore the spirit of our times, cross-pollinating cultures and ideas.

Pi’s notoriously diverse, forward-looking and innovative Canadian and international plays attract an adventurous Vancouver audience. We aim to provide our audiences with intellectually stimulating and emotionally challenging theatrical experiences that expand how people view themselves and their place in the world.

Responsibilities: 
General Board Requirements Include
  • Commitment to the work of Pi Theatre.
  • Knowledge and skills in one or more of board governance, marketing, finance, programs, personnel or advocacy.
  • Willingness to serve on committees.
  • Attendance at scheduled board meetings.
  • Attendance at Annual General Meetings. Attendance and support of special events including productions. Support of and participation in fundraising events.
  • Financial support of Pi Theatre.
  • A Board Member is responsible to fully inform themselves on organizational matters, and participate in the Board’s deliberations and decisions in matters of board governance, marketing, finance, programs, personnel or advocacy.

 A Board Member must:

  • approve, where appropriate, policy and other recommendations received from the Board, its committees, and staff;
  • monitor all Board policies;
  • review the Bylaws and policies, and recommend Bylaw changes to the membership;
  • review the Board’s structure, approve changes and prepare necessary Bylaw amendments;
  • participate in the development of Pi Theatre’s organizational plan and annual review;
  • approve Pi Theatre’s budget; and
  • approve the hiring and release of senior staff, including senior staff’s employment contracts.
Qualifications: 
  • Interest in fundraising.
  • Knowledge, skills or experience one or more of board governance, marketing, finance, programs, personnel or advocacy.
  • Passion for and dedication to the work of Pi Theatre.
  • Some free time and a positive attitude.
