Eastside Culture Crawl Society
Description: 

The Eastside Culture Crawl Society is a not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to the promotion of artists and their work. The society is best known for producing the annual Eastside Culture Crawl, a 3-day November event that involves artists who operate their studios in Vancouver's Eastside in an area bounded by Main St., Terminal/1st Ave., Victoria Drive, and the Waterfront.

The Eastside Culture Crawl officially began in 1996 with 45 artists in 3 Strathcona area studio buildings and was attended by a few hundred people. Since that time the event has grown to include over 350 artists, craftspeople and designers attracting an audience of more than 10,000.

The organization itself has evolved to represent the heart of the East Van creative community, and seen city-wide as voice of studio artists.

Responsibilities: 

In the midst of a 5 year Strategic Plan (2010-2015), the Vice President's role is critical in supporting the direction of the society in the next few years of growth and transition. The ECCS is currently embarking into the realm of property management/ownership with feasibility studies and research projects on the go, the ideal candidates will have some experience in the guidance of large projects and connections in the community. Specific roles include:

Duties Include:
Acts for the President as required
Represents the ECCS at events and forums
Participates in the Executive Director’s annual review
Participates in succession planning and recruitment
Prepares for a leadership role in the ECCS

Time Commitment: 12-17 hrs/month total (seasonal)
- 2 year term
- 2 meetings month (Board, Executive Committee): 6 hrs/month
- Correspondence/emails: 1-2 hrs/week

Qualifications: 

An interest and passion for the arts in Vancouver, specifically experience working on a Board of Directors- either with the ECCS or other not-for-profit arts organizations.

Some knowledge or experience in property development, large fundraising projects, and/or other infrastructure building projects as related to arts and not-for-profit organizations.

A good sense of humor and a joy in working with other volunteers and staff!
