Job Description:

We are searching for a highly organized, flexible, efficient and motivated individual who is committed to the arts and building and sustaining community, to fill the position of marketing manager and program assistant.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote all programs and events

    • Social media marketing, email marketing, online advertising, word of mouth marketing

    • Sourcing low-budget high-impact solutions for marketing to potential customers

  • Learning the various programs and events so as to successfully program the business and programs in the community both in person and digitally

  • Manage communications and social media updates

  • Seeking publicity opportunities

  • Assisting with programs (duties are varied and require good organizational skills, attention to detail, comfort working with children of all ages and some documentation of programs)

  • Managing general e-mail account and occasionally covering the front desk which would involve registration, answering phone calls, light bookkeeping tasks

  • Reaching out to local authors for booking author visits

  • Assisting with planning a fundraiser including acquiring donations for a silent auction and profiling them on a website and in an auction guide

  • Designing, editing and publishing small publications of writing created by children

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in related field

  • Proficiency in Quickbooks, Excel, Word, Pages, Powerpoint

  • Familiarity with MailChimp and social media

  • Experience in marketing a small business

  • Experience working with children

  • Experience in fundraising and event planning

  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that requires multi-tasking and prioritizing

  • Efficiency with composition

  • Comfortable dealing with a co-constructive writing process with both students and fellow employees

  • Experience with professional writing and editing

  • Interest in working with children’s and young adult literature

Would be nice, but not necessary:

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign

  • Knowledge of art media

  • Connections to the early childhood community

  • Ability to converse in Cantonese or Mandarin
