Out On Screen is a registered charity and professional queer arts organization, based in Vancouver, dedicated to celebrating, illuminating, and advancing queer lives through film, education and dialogue. Our vision is a society where gender and sexual diversity thrives. Our team is passionate about making a difference in our communities and we strive to create a culture that is in line with the values of the communities we serve.

Currently we deliver on our mission with two core programs:

  • The annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the largest queer arts event in Western Canada, showcasing cutting-edge films from around the world.

  • Out In Schools is an award winning education program that uses queer film to spark dialogue that challenges homophobia and promotes inclusion. Since its inception, it has reached more than 120,000 youth and adults across B.C.

Job Description: 

Located in our office in Downtown Vancouver – the Corporate Engagement Officer is a full-time (5 days/37.5 hrs per week) permanent position that coordinates our family of corporate supporters and community engagement initiatives. With a primary focus on corporate sponsorship of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and the Out In Schools program, the successful candidate will work with a larger team to deepen corporate relationships of mutual benefit, and to forge connections with local community groups wishing to support our work.

The salary range for this position is between $45,000 and $50,000 per year. This position will have a flexible work schedule based upon the demands of the time of year with particular emphasis on the lead up to and during the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.



  • Serve as the primary contact for sponsors of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival and
    corporate supporters of the Out In Schools program

  • Lead and implement the full corporate giving cycle including prospect research,
    proposal design, stewardship, closing and contracting, and benefits activation with
    the aim of raising corporate giving revenues. A 10% growth in revenues is expected
    within the first year, with a continued year-over-year growth of 5% for each year

  • Create and maintain proposals / cases for support, and contracts for corporate

  • Complete accurate campaign analysis and reporting and prepare and deliver regular

  • Ensure appropriate acknowledgments and recognition is implemented for
    corporate sponsors

  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and day-of logistics for all Development
    events including donor acquisition or stewardship events and receptions

  • In collaboration with the Engagement Officer, maintain or build connections with
    outside parties looking to support our programs through events and initiatives

  • Build and deepen relationships within our communities and maintain a presence at
    community events of benefit to the position

  • Maintain accurate data in our donor database (eTapestry), regularly input and track
    donations or sponsorship payments, and ensure all recognition is within CRA

  • Work collaboratively with staff team to facilitate communications, data capture and

  • Lead the creation of a corporate relations strategy and operational plan, in
    collaboration with the Development team

  • Additional duties as assigned

Vancouver Queer Film Festival-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee the solicitation of advertisers for in-theatre screen advertising and web ads

  • Plan and implement the annual Professional Networking Event

  • Active prospecting and stewardship of new and existing Festival

  • Create a comprehensive Festival Sponsor Report to be delivered to all corporate


This role is for you if…

  • You enjoy working with corporate and community groups to support exciting,
    socially-driven, arts causes in your community

  • You enjoy sales, negotiation, and working towards the mutual benefit of both parties

  • You have a passion for LGBT2Q+ rights and/or queer art

  • You have 1-2 years of experience in a role related to sponsorship, corporate
    development, or sales

  • You are clear and expressive in both written and verbal communication; able to
    demonstrate tact and discretion

  • You have experience organizing events

  • You can excel in high-pressure environments when working as part of a larger team
