Gathering Place Community Centre
The Gathering Place Community Centre offers programs and services to the Downtown South community. We primarily serve vulnerable populations, including people on lower income, people with disabilities, seniors, people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ community, youth, and people who are homeless.
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday in June, BC Access Awareness Day raises awareness about disability, accessibility, and inclusion. The Production and Outreach Coordination will work with The Gathering Place and partnering organizations to coordinate, produce and advertise a series of events celebrating 2019 Access Awareness Day. This project is in partnership with All Bodies Dance and Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture.
This is an 8-week part-time contract position beginning early April.
Work collaboratively with project partners to produce a series of events in celebration of BC Access Awareness Day at The Gathering Place including a visual art show opening, cabaret dinner performance and other activities
Attend planning meetings with team
Recruit, liaise and correspond with artists, volunteers and presenters
Outreach to community organizations and groups
Create press release and reach out to media
Create publicity, marketing materials, and social media the for events
Manage day of schedule of events
Coordinate event set-up and tear down
Create a post-event report with recommendations for subsequent events
Priority given to individuals who identify as having a disability.
