The Vancouver Out On Screen Film & Video Society is a registered charity and professional queer arts organization dedicated to celebrating queer lives through film, education and dialogue.

Currently we deliver on our mission with two core programs:
The annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the largest queer arts event in Western Canada and the second largest film festival in Vancouver, BC, showcasing cutting-edge films from throughout BC, across Canada, and around the world alongside discussion panels, artist Q&As, multidisciplinary performances, parties and more
Impact: A dynamic showcase of emerging and accomplished queer cinema that pushes artistic boundaries and fosters a sense of belonging, affirmation and connection with other community members and to social movements.
Out In Schools facilitators use LGBT2Q+ films in schools and communities throughout BC to combat homophobia and transphobia, making schools safer and more inclusive for all students.
Impact: Innovative and compelling educational experiences that deepen students’ intersectional knowledge and promote inclusive behavior.
Our Marketing Manager is the brain trust for Out On Screen’s voice out to the world. They design what we say, how we say it, and when we say it publicly. The LGBT2Q+ and allied communities we seek to serve need to know who we are, what we do, and why they should care and want to be involved with our programs.
Our Marketing Manager researches and analyzes the data and determines a multi pronged strategy for communicating to our varied existing and potential audiences. They also look across our existing and potential communications channels and, based on the data and analysis, create a strategic plan and calendar for reaching existing and new communities. They ensure our voice and messages are consistent across Out On Screen through training and education of staff and board.
Based on these strategies, the Marketing Manager develops campaigns and activities that that meet our objectives while ensuring it complies with our voice, vision and values. They spend a lot of energy on marketing the Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) in compelling ways to grow and continue diversifying our audiences. They also know how to connect the three distinct but related brands and voices: Out On Screen, VQFF, and Out In Schools.
Our Marketing Manager is responsible for the various stages of all marketing efforts, from logos and package design, to festival promotion and fundraising campaigns, to social media and online platforms, to print materials, and to organizational branding. They monitor and / or lead every activity related to brand awareness.
The Marketing Manager is passionate about LGBT2Q+ communities and knows them well. Importantly, they have a keen understanding for how to communicate across difference in compelling and uplifting ways. They understand how data, strategic thinking, critical analysis, and love of film and communities underpin everything we do.
More than anything else, they believe in the transformative power of film.
You have a track record of successful online and offline marketing campaigns. You can point to instances where you led and / or shaped the messaging of an organization overall or in a particular instance. You have experience with making sense of the data and turning it into action. You know how to develop multiple messaging tracks to communicate the same information but to different audiences. You’ve prepared and implemented complex strategies in the past that take multiple considerations into account.
Perhaps you have design and public relations skills. If not, you are willing to learn and will manage others doing the work until you are proficient yourself.
You play well with others and can get things done independently, meaning you have experience tackling many of the day to day tasks and challenges that you’ll encounter with initiative and hard work. You are organized and know what systems work for you and they help you shine when running several projects at the same time.

Computers and their programs come naturally to you. Microsoft Office, photo editing, graphic design, e-communications, and social media platforms are your thing.
