Every week, the BC Alliance gives you a glimpse at five must-see member events. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the near future:
Hieronymus Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delights
Straight from the DanceHouse website: “In honour of the 500th anniversary of the Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, choreographer Marie Chouinard creates a living canvas, embodying the seething, heaving fecundity of Bosch’s most infamous masterpiece.” So if you’re in the mood for some seething, heaving fecundity this week, stop by the Vancouver Playhouse and watch beauty emerge from the chaos.

Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Did you know that 90% of Wikipedia editors are men? I know it’s true because I read it on Wikipedia. Rungh hunkers down in the Surrey Art Gallery to correct that imbalance. Come from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. and help increase the representation of women and non-binary artists on one of the internet’s largest sites.
(Surrey: Mar. 16)
Fresh from the Firehall comes this dark, magical tale of romance, creativity, and chaos. An environmental activist falls in love with her opposite, while her co-dependent brother spirals into self-destruction and does everything he can to push the lovers apart. If you love your fellow humans but hate what we’re doing to the planet, this one’s for you.
(Vancouver: Mar. 14-24)
What do you get when you cross a Chilean playwright with a Swiss modernist novel from 1925 about the film version of American gold rush of 1848, topped with a sprinkling of Mexican banda tunes? UBC Theatre & Film brings you this flavourful mix with GOLDRAUSCH, a genre-bending story of rampant jealousy, greed, and ambition run amok as two actors compete to star in a film-within-a-play. Preview March 13; opening night March 14.
(Vancouver: Mar. 14-30)
The Art from the Attic Sale
Do you have paintings you no longer love? Time to take them to the attic — the 13th Annual Art from the Attic Sale, that is. The Old School House Arts Centre is accepting sign-ups to sell until March 15, and then it’s a buyer’s market. Come peep the art and leave with something new for the dining room wall.
(Qualicum Beach: Mar. 15-28)
