Every week, the BC Alliance gives you a glimpse at several must-see member events. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the near future:

The Taming of the Shrew
One of Bard on the Beach’s most beloved interpretations, its spaghetti Western iteration of The Taming of the Shrew, is back and better than ever. Petruchio and Kate engage in a gunslinging battle of wits as one of Shakespeare’s staples gets a tumbleweed twist.

Vancouver TheatreSports™ Presents Colin Mochrie
Comedy icon Colin Mochrie of Whose Line and This Hour Has 22 Minutes fame plays three shows with Vancouver TheatreSports™. On May 30 and 31, Colin takes the stage at The Improv Centre on Granville Island, then headlines the Vogue on June 1.

Zoning Out
This free performance captures the story of an Iranian single mother immigrating to Canada with her child, who is on the autism spectrum. Register online for playwright Zia Sadr’s compelling new work, presented at Presentation House Theatre.

Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s annual Heritage House Tour
VHF’s annual event takes walkers through houses dating back to 1895, spanning six decades and five neighbourhoods. Explore shifts in architectural design, see how heritage spaces are being used in a modern context, and take a look at the city’s history through the lens of its homes.

When You’re Smiling
Former CBC radio host Tim Tamashiro takes on the Rat Pack in this musical romp, described as “Vinyl Cafe with a live jazz band.” Local service organizations and charities should get in touch with Venables Theatre for free tickets courtesy of Tim!
