The Vancouver Maritime Museum Celebrates 60 Years
As you know if you saw The Tyee’s recent write-up, the Vancouver Maritime Museum is celebrating its 60th anniversary on June 8. Join during the day for by-donation access to the museum, musical performances, ventriloquism and more, or pop by in the evening for a beer garden and shows by jazz and soul trio Ludic and indie pop staples Hey Ocean! Ocean of Love: An Evening of Chinese Art Songs
Everyone is welcome to an evening of contemporary Chinese art songs hosted by Pacific Opera Victoria. Soprano Chelsea Kutyn, baritone Xuguang Zhang and pianist Alex Chen perform at the Baumann Centre’s Wingate Studio; donations gratefully accepted.

Mom’s the Word: Nest ½ Empty
The venerable Mom’s the Word series is still kicking, having made its debut at the Arts Club all the way back in 1995. Now, 24 years later, it returns for its fourth instalment. Catch up with our heroines as they tackle the latest chapter in their ever-evolving story.

Emerge Festival 2019
Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) is a hotbed of creativity, and the Emerge Festival is your chance to see 45 recipients of DTES Small Arts Grants showcase their new work during a five day celebration of emerging local creators.
