Artspoints Rewards Rolls Out in BC

The world's first customer rewards program for the arts has launched in BC, enabling the public to earn and redeem points when buying tickets to the arts.

Artspoints has taken the hugely successful loyalty/rewards model that revolutionized the airline industry in the 1980’s and adapted it for the cultural sector. Points can be earned, and later redeemed, on tickets purchased to a variety of arts organizations through Artspoints’ on-line box office. The rewards program is free to join, has no annual fees, and points never expire.

Participating arts organizations to date include the Vancouver Art Gallery, Royal BC Museum, Bard on the Beach, Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, The Cinematheque, Vancouver Recital Society, Museum of Vancouver, Vancouver Chamber Choir and Friends of Chamber Music. The program is starting in Vancouver, with its network expanding soon. New arts organizations will be added to the program regularly.

Artspoints has developed its own integrated ticketing/rewards platform that allows arts organizations to either use Artspoints as a secondary box office provider, or in the case of small to mid-sized companies, as their exclusive on-line box office solution. Similar to other reward programs, Artspoints’ members will receive point bonuses on each purchase, and when enough points have been earned they can redeem those points for more tickets to the arts.

“Artspoints provides cultural organizations with a new marketing tool that has been inaccessible until now,” says Rob Gloor, executive director, Alliance for Arts + Culture. “The development of this new program has been a monumental task for the Artspoints team, and we applaud their efforts in bringing it to fruition. We will continue to support their expansion across the city, province and country.”
