CHRC Issues Call for Proposals for Sector Trainers on Harassment

CHRC and the Coordinating Committee of Respectful Workplaces in the Arts are seeking proposals from individuals interested in delivering training sessions on workplace harassment in the arts.

The successful candidates will:

  • have an excellent knowledge of the live performing, visual or literary arts

  • have HR knowledge and skills

  • have experience with and knowledge of workplace harassment in the art

  • be skilled communicators

  • have presentation skills and facilitation experience

Bilingualism and working with Indigenous peoples and equity seeking groups are assets.

The successful candidates will undergo up to two days of training in April 2019 with a certified HR expert on workshop development and delivery; and on harassment in arts workplaces, drawing on a series of tools and resources that are being created through the Respectful Workplaces in the Arts project. These will include an HR tool on Workplace Harassment and Violence with helpful information on developing policies and procedures including reporting and investigating (culturalhrc.ca/hrtools/index-e.php); a code of conduct; training videos for employers and cultural workers; legislative webcasts for each province and territory and related compliance kits; and a report on Reporting and Investigating Mechanisms for Workplace Harassment in the Arts.

Each candidate will be expected to develop a workshop and be coached in the delivery of the workshop.  One-on-one coaching support sessions will be provided.

Each candidate will then commit to delivering 4 workshops in the course of this pilot year, for which their travel and a small honorarium will be paid.

This team of trainers will then be ready to offer their services on a per engagement basis throughout the sector and the country. They will be part of a team of trainers listed on the RWA website who can be engaged by the sector to deliver the workshops on harassment to groups of employers (including Boards); groups of cultural workers (including artists, contractors and volunteers); and groups that include both employers and cultural workers.
