City of Vancouver Cultural Spaces and CASC Grants Open January 17

Application forms will be available via the online grants portal the week of January 17, 2022 for the City of Vancouver’s Cultural Spaces Grants program, which supports the arts and culture sector with their facility projects.

Applicants will be required to complete a Statement of Intent to Apply (SOI) in order to access Cultural Spaces Grants. For the SOI, please contact planners Diane Blunt and Minna Schendlinger at diane.blunt@vancouver.ca and minna.schendlinger@vancouver.ca. Available funding options include:

Affordable Spaces Grants

  • Grants up to $50,000 for facility operating costs for local non-profit space operators who provide subsidized affordable space for Vancouver-based artists and/or cultural organizations.

Cultural Infrastructure Grants (CIG)

  • Matching Grants up to $250,000 for capital building-based projects including space planning and research; or acquisition (purchase), renovation, or expansion of an arts and cultural facility.

Small Grants for Cultural Spaces

  • Grants up to $25,000 for improved capital building-based funding support for equity-denied groups or areas of practice underrepresented in the CIG Program; or time sensitive cultural space planning, research, improvements, accessibility upgrades; or mentorships between organizations or between organizations and professionals to support space planning, knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Critical Assistance Grants

  • Grants up to $25,000 to support urgent building life safety upgrades, and other critical timely support for cultural spaces including unforeseen and urgent replacement, repairs and/or life-safety capital infrastructure projects, and/or hiring of code consultants for time-sensitive projects. Emergency Affordable Spaces operational support may also be available depending on availability of funding for the year.
