Canada Art Council: Annual Report

The Canada Council for the Arts is sharing their 2021–2022 Annual Report, which details their progress in terms of funding throughout the first year of their 2021–2026 strategic plan, Art, now more than ever.

The report illustrates the impact of the Council’s investments and leadership in helping to rebuild the arts sector. Over the last fiscal year, the Council supported the arts sector with record funding, including one-time pandemic-related funding.

Here are some highlights:

  • $37.5 million attributed to supporting Indigenous culture

Goal: $100M by 2026

  • $88.3 million invested in an innovative rebuilding of the arts sector

Goal: $200M by 2026

  • Even distribution (50/50) of funding between core grants and project grants

Goal reached

  • $19.8 million dollars attributed to support international activities

Goal: $110M by 2026

  • $15 million in Public Lending Right Program investments

Goal: $74M by 2026
