New Partnership Between BC Touring Council & the BC Music Festival Collective

The BC Touring Council (BCTC) and the BC Music Festival Collective (BCMFC) are pleased to announce their new strategic partnership that brings both organizations together to support live performing arts presenters and music, arts and cultural festivals in British Columbia.

The BC Music Festival Collective sprang from a grassroots effort in response to the pandemic shutdowns to meet a significant need for the music festival sector.

The provincial government has since recognized the organization as the official industry representative for music festivals.

Today, there are over 100 festivals as part of the Collective. Last fall, BCMFC’s membership undertook a strategic planning process designed to answer, “What is the most effective and sustainable organizational structure for BCMFC,” as festivals emerged from the pandemic.

After a thorough review of options, it was determined that the preferred course of action for the BCMFC was to join BCTC instead of forming a new provincial arts service organization.

A key focus of the partnership will be to widen our impact across the sector and deliver extended support and services to our members. They will do this by diversifying their sources of funding, growing earned revenue and continuing their strong relationships and communication with their members and provincial contacts.

They will also develop a range of programs and services to enhance festivals in communities across British Columbia as they join together to work as one. Coming together with the BC Music Festival Collective provides the impetus to re-brand the BC Touring Council to better reflect the festival sector and other venues and organizations not currently represented by any other Arts Service Organizations.
