The ACT Arts Centre (The ACT), located in the community of Maple Ridge and part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD), is the leading provider of engaging, vibrant and excellent Arts Learning Programs, Gallery Exhibitions and Performing Arts Presentations for the growing communities of the region. Opened in 2003, the 486-seat theatre, studio theatre and instruction studios are home to many cultural and community events, delivering an array of diverse arts and cultural programming and activities to over 80,000 patrons annually.

Job Description:

The ACT Arts Centre is looking for General Theatre Technicians to join our skilled events and theatre team. We are looking for a range of skill levels, and may be able to offer some onsite training and professional development advancement.

General Theatre Technicians will perform assigned tasks at The ACT Arts Centre facility and the Albion Community Centre as scheduled, relating to live performances, events, or theatre maintenance. General technicians may be required to do a wide variety of work, including stage management, electrics/lighting, and basic audio and projection tasks.

General technicians are the forward face of the organization to artists, performers, and rental clients, and customer service skills are important.

Responsibilities:

The General Theatre Technicians are assigned tasks for each shift, but may be asked to work larger events or projects for multiple days through a week or more. General taks include:
• Assist with Load-in / Load-out of equipment, artists, and other show-related needs
• Work on tasks as assigned, in lighting, sound, or staging.
• May be required to work at heights, to hang or adjust lighting fixtures.
• Operation of the ETC lighting and a variety of digital and analog audio consoles ( for console technicians)
o Products Digico S & SD Series
o Behringer X32
• Operation of a followspot light
• Assembly, construction, or assistance in constructing wooden or metal set pieces or scenic elements.
• Safely operate a counterweight fly system.
• Safely rig equipment, props, or scenic elements to the fly system as required.
• Basic computer skills are required, with experience in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint considered an asset.
• Ensure safety of performers, and theatre equipment.
• Ensure the highest standard of health and safety in the workplace is met.
• Other duties; as assigned by the Technical Director, Operations Manager, or Artistic Director

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of ETC Eos Lighting Consoles
• Working knowledge of Digico Sound Consoles
• Occupational First Aid – Level 1
• Arial Platform/Fall Arrest Ticket
• Preference will be given to persons with an ActSafe Live Performance Electrical Certification (LPEC)
• Preference will be given to persons with either their BC FE (full entertainment) or LE (limited entertainment) certification.

Remuneration:
