Four Canadian music events have pledged gender parity across their lineups by 2022. They join an international movement called Keychange led by the UK-based PRS Foundation, seeking to "[empower] women to transform the future of the music industry."

Among the festivals agreeing to take part are Western Canada's BreakOut West, Montreal's Mutek, and North By Northeast and Canadian Music Week, both out of Toronto.

The movement comes as the music industry faces criticism for gender imbalance, including at music festivals and awards shows.
