Individual members may not post on behalf of an organization, and organizational members may only post their own listings.

Postings will appear within one business day of submission and are removed from the website the next business day following the application deadline.

The Gallery George shows local established and emerging painters, designers, photographers, sculptors, and more. Located next to the historic Gastown, the Gallery is housed in a beautiful building filled with artist studios where many of our artists carry out their art practices.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
Would you like to learn about curating, handling art, and how a gallery runs? Would you like to be involved in the art scene, meet our artists, and be a part of what they create? Would you like to help connect art and community? Would you like to see how much fun you can have helping at our Art Markets and Pop-Ups? We are seeking art gallery volunteers to help in a variety of events and projects which are artist- and guest-facing, as well as behind the scenes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in hanging and taking down monthly exhibitions

  • Support exhibition opening receptions

  • Participate in special events, including on-site/off-site pop-ups and art markets

  • Help with fun local gallery promotions

  • Assist with some administration work, if applicable

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appreciation for art; art education or experience is a bonus

  • Personable with artists and guests during opening receptions; hospitality experience and Serving It Right certification are assets

  • Careful handling of artwork with attention to detail; prior experience is a bonus

  • Administrative skills are an asset if you have expertise in this area
