Respectful Workplace Fund Now Open for Applications

On July 10, Creative BC announced the opening of the Respectful Workplace, Diversity and Gender Parity Fund. The new $175,000 fund–which was first announced by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on June 15–will support training initiatives and projects that create and maintain fair, inclusive and safe work environments in the creative industries.

Respectful workplaces are defined as those that display integrity and professionalism, practice fairness and understanding, demonstrate respect for individual rights and differences and encourage accountability for one's actions. Respectful workplaces are free of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, physical characteristics, mental ability or ancestry.

Eligible applicants are industry associations, not-for-profit organizations or unions in the motion picture, music and sound recording, interactive and digital media, or book and magazine publishing industries. Examples of eligible projects include training, education, workshops and the creation of toolkits that promote safety, diversity and equity in the creative industries.

The application guidelines and form can be found at the Creative BC website: https://www.creativebc.com/programs/respectfulworkplacefund
