After more than a decade as the executive director of the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC), Jacqueline Massey will step down on December 31.

Massey started on the BIAC as a board member 19 years ago before being employed as an administrator in 2005. Some years later, she was named executive director, during which time the BIAC’s gallery moved from from Artisan Square to Cove Commons.

“She deserves a tremendous amount of credit for the expansion and the growth of the Arts Council,” says Carol Cram, former chair of the BIAC board. “She’s been the captain of the ship for 10 years full-time. […] She really made the Arts Council into the influential organization it is on the island today.”

Massey will pursue other opportunities involving writing, consultation and development. The BIAC is now hiring for the executive director position; you can find the listing here.
