Job Description:

Ballet BC is seeking an HR professional to oversee all HR functions for the company. The successful candidate will support a vibrant team of artists and staff at our Granville Island facility and will work closely with the Managing Director on HR initiatives and promoting a positive work culture.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer letters
- Manage onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, including dancers and seasonal staff
- Facilitate annual dancer orientation in collaboration with the Company Manager
- Maintain a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the hiring process

HR Administration & Employee Lifecycle
- Maintain employee records, organizational charts, and up-to-date job descriptions
- Manage onboarding and offboarding documentation, working closely with payroll and IT
- Act as benefit plan administrator and ensure timely enrollment and communication of employee benefits
- Manage HR functions related to employee sick leaves
- Oversee time-off tracking and leave coordination in the HRIS
- Maintain and communicate updates to the Employee Handbook and HR policies
- Assist with performance management processes and documentation
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries

Health, Safety & Compliance
- File WorkSafe BC injury reports and support safe return-to-work planning
- Monitor and report injury statistics to the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate and compliant HR transactions for WorkSafe claims

Culture, Engagement & Policy Development
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and values-aligned workplace culture
- Support employee engagement strategies and lead HR-related initiatives
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and staff on HR policies and procedures
- Conduct exit interviews and synthesize feedback for continuous improvement
- Track professional development activity and communicate learning opportunities to staff

Strategic Planning & Budgeting
- Develop annual salary budgets and staffing forecasts with leadership
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and analyze HR metrics to support strategic decision-making
- Provide costing scenarios for new roles or staffing structures as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5 years of progressive HR experience
Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
Sound knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
Experience in a non-profit, creative, or arts environment is an asset
A passion for the performing arts and cultural community

Remuneration:

$65,000–$68,000 annually
