Kent Picture Framing is an established (2010) custom framing business in Vancouver. We produce a large volume of custom work and take pride in craftsmanship, efficiency and doing things properly. This is a full-time or part-time, permanent position with the opportunity to learn a specialized trade and become a highly skilled picture framer. Job Description:

Kent Picture Framing is looking for a full-time production employee to join our busy Vancouver framing shop. Previous picture-framing experience is welcome, but it is not required. We are very interested in people coming from other hands-on industries who have the right combination of precision, practical ability, organization and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:

This position is primarily production-based and includes:
- Cutting and joining picture-frame moulding.
- Measuring and cutting materials accurately.
- Operating framing and woodworking equipment.
- Assembling frames and preparing artwork for finishing.
- Working with glass, acrylic, matboard, wood and other materials.
- Handling artwork and customer property carefully.
- Keeping production organized and moving efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
- Solving the unusual little problems that come with custom work.

Qualifications:

Experience that may translate well. You do not need to come from the picture-framing industry. (Preference will be given to those with relevant experience). We'd especially like to hear from people with backgrounds such as:
- Cabinetmaking or woodworking
- Finish carpentry or millwork
- Furniture making
- Sign or display fabrication
- Print production or bindery work
- Theatre, film or prop fabrication
- Jewelry or other precision craft work
- Professional kitchens, pastry or baking
- Other hands-on production environments requiring speed, organization and precision
- Artistic ability or a good visual eye is an asset, but we're looking for someone who is artistic and practical rather than someone who simply wants a creative job.

Other requirements:
- valid BC driver's licence.
- ability to lift at least 50lbs.

Remuneration:

$24-$35+ per/hr, paid holidays, medical/dental/health spending account.
