BC Culture Days Announces 2014 Ambassador

Each year a BC artist or cultural worker is chosen to represent Culture Days as an ambassador and delegate at the National Congress on Culture. The BC Culture Days Ambassador acts as a spokesperson for Culture Days by reaching out to local communities, speaking to media on behalf of BC artists, promoting Culture Days actively through social media, and presenting Culture Days activities.

BC Culture Days has named Rawle James the 2014 BC Culture Days Ambassador.

Rawle James is a poet, teacher and spiritual coach. He lives in Kelowna, BC, where he wrote and self-published his first book of poetry: Truth Experienced. He is the founder of the Inspired Word Café, a coffeehouse show that invites poets and musicians to share their creativity. He has years of experience working with youth through coaching football and working with people with mental challenges.

“The Inspired Word Café, (r)evolution through artistic expression, was started three years ago to encourage people to spread their wings. It was my hope to bring people together who LOVE and appreciate the creative flow that is Life, " said James in a statement. "Words are meant to be heard and the Inspired Word Café is a vehicle to encourage a community's beautiful blend of words and music in a setting that lovingly embraces everyone who participates.”

The Inspired Word Café Culture Days Jam will be taking place again this year in Kelowna over the Culture Days weekend.
