Apply Now to the CASV Emerging Artist’s Prize

The Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver's Emerging Artist’s Prize is open to artwork in all media by artists residing in the Lower Mainland. Five finalists will be selected by a jury of art professionals to take part in an exhibition of their work at Access Gallery, an artist-run centre in Vancouver. All finalists will receive a cash prize, with the winning artist receiving a $3,000 cash reward.

The CASV Emerging Artist’s Prize was established in 2011 to encourage and support artists within the first five years of their careers, and is the only one of its kind in Vancouver selected through an open competition. The CASV is a not-for-profit membership-based organization founded in 1977 that focuses on promoting an appreciation and understanding of Contemporary Art. Members enjoy studio visits, art trips, collection visits and lectures by prominent artists, critics, collectors, designers, architects and fine art professionals.

The prize defines an emerging artist as someone who has completed education or an apprenticeship in the Visual Arts, is in the first five years of an artistic career, and dedicated to the professional practice of art. Artists must have had at least one exhibition (after having completed education or apprenticeship) at an artist-run space, public gallery, or commercial gallery, and must currently live in the Lower Mainland.
