Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager leads the Volunteer Department and the stewardship of VIFF’s volunteer program; manages community outreach for access programs; coordinates event accessibility initiatives; organizes HR administration and staff engagement; and provides operational support.

Start date: May 27th, 2024

Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to:

• Ensure all volunteers and staff are supported in a respectful, engaging, and timely manner.
• Plan and execute a volunteer engagement plan including outreach, practicums/internships, and engagement efforts and events.
• With a focus on diversity and inclusion, lead the volunteer and staff onboarding processes from recruiting through training.
• Oversee volunteer and staff orientations, and lead staff volunteer management training.
• Hire, manage, and support the Festival Volunteer Coordinator.
• Oversee the volunteer communication plan including monthly year-round and daily festival newsletters, the volunteer helpline, and all volunteer program messaging.
• Manage the creation and distribution of volunteer and staff packages, perks, and accreditation.
• Manage the volunteer department budget.
• Support and organize HR administration and staff engagement from onboarding to events.
• Communicate and audit internal and external accessibility information.
• Implement disability related initiatives and contribute to the accessibility plan.
• Develop a community outreach plan for access programs including relaxed screenings and accessible tickets.
• Manage community access ticketing and ticket donation programs.
• Provide operational and administrative support for special programs and projects.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to the principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
• Highly organized, focused, and able to work within tight deadlines.
• Experience leading diverse teams and maintaining grace under pressure.
• Experience working with volunteers as well as working as a volunteer.
• Experience dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information.
• The ability to develop strong community relationships.
• Demonstrated commitment to the customer experience.
• Familiarity with scheduling and HR software and communication tools like slack, teams, Mailchimp an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Knowledge and understanding of accessibility in events an asset.
• Ability to use adobe design software an asset.
• Fan of the arts and experience working for non-profits an asset.

Remuneration:

$50,000-53,000 based on experience.
