CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Are you an emerging ceramic artist ready to deepen your practice? PoMoArts invites applications for our Ceramic Artist in Residence (CAIR) program. This 6-month residency supports artists in the development of a cohesive body of work for an exhibition through studio access, mentorship, research, and community engagement.
We are seeking artists with strong technical experience, a commitment to artistic growth, and an interest in contributing to our vibrant and collaborative studio community.
Applicant Criteria:
• Strong foundation in ceramics practice, gained through post-secondary education and/or equivalent training and experience.
• Comfortable working independently in a shared ceramic studio environment and assisting with the day-to-day operations.
• Sufficient technical knowledge to answer student questions, support studio users, monitor safe studio practices, and assist with routine studio maintenance and upkeep.
• Considered an emerging artist. We define emerging ceramic artists as those in the first few years of their professional development and not currently earning their primary income from their artwork.
The CAIR Receives:
• Dedicated Studio Space: Private studio with wheel, shelving, and workspace, accessible during facility operating hours.
• Gallery Exhibition: A gallery exhibition of residency work with curatorial support, as well as potential inclusion in select group shows.
• Mentorship and Professional Development: Regular guidance from Ceramics and Exhibitions staff, including portfolio reviews and curatorial coaching.
• CAIR Artist Profile: Featured profile on the PoMoArts website.
• Teaching Experience: Paid teaching/workshop opportunities may be offered after residency, with optional mentorship in planning and strategies.
