Dance Victoria Appoints New GM

Dance Victoria’s Executive Producer, Stephen White announced the appointment of Vancouver’s Bernard Sauvé to the new position of General Manager effective November 1, 2014.

“I’m very happy that Bernard will be joining our team in Victoria,” says White. “He comes to an organization that is on solid financial ground and undergoing a process of renewal with a committed Board and staff. I have known Bernard for a long time and had the pleasure of working with him on different projects over several years. It’s very good to have him involved with Dance Victoria as we move forward.”

Sauvé will move from Vancouver where, over the past 16 years he has been a Senior Partner and Part Owner of Eponymous Inc., a cluster management company he co-founded to assist artists and companies working in Canadian dance. He acted as General Manager, Touring Manager and Canadian Agent for a number of sought after companies like Kidd Pivot (Crystal Pite), Wen Wei Dance, The Holy Body Tattoo, Lola Dance and many more. He also brings experience as Associate Producer of Dance House, a Vancouver dance presenter that programs an annual season at Vancouver Playhouse. In addition, Sauvé spent two years in Ottawa as a Program Officer in the Dance Section at the Canada Council for the Arts.

Says Sauvé, “From the start of my career as a professional dancer with Ballet British Columbia, I have been passionate about dancing, the performing arts and my evolving professional role in the world of dance.  I am excited to bring my experience and energy to Dance Victoria to help choreograph the future of this dynamic organization.”
