Two Vancouver Music Venues to Host Virtual Open House

The following is excerpted from a communication issued by the Pooni Group.

Pooni Group is hosting an online event pertaining to two music venues in downtown Vancouver. The figures from 2020 have shown the severe impact COVID has had on the arts. In this regard, a proposed development by Bonnis Properties for 800 Granville may represent an opportunity for musicians in Vancouver. Among other aspects, the proposal discusses the revitalization of the Commodore Ballroom and Orpheum Theatre. Pooni Group is hosting a virtual open house to discuss the project and answer any questions.

The virtual open house takes place Thursday, April 22, 2021

The presentation times are as follows:

  • 10:00 am - 11:15 am

  • 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

The event will be accessed through http://800granville.com. Please follow this link to learn more about the proposal and to register. The virtual open house will be conducted by Zoom. On the day of the virtual open house, a "Join the Presentation" button will appear on the website and will link to the Zoom presentation.

Members of the public are invited to join at either 10 am or 6 pm. The project team will give a short presentation on the proposal at the beginning of each session. A live Q+A session will take place after each presentation, where members of the public can submit questions for the project team.

Project Highlights:

  • Rehabilitation of the site’s five heritage assets including preservation of the Commodore

  • Improved capacity for an additional 70,000 attendees per year at the Commodore, an approximately 40% increase in attendance

  • New 14,700 sq ft performance venue and operational facilities space to be provided for the Orpheum’s use
