2022 CMA Award Winners Announced

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) has announced the winners of the 2022 CMA Awards. We wish to extend our deep-felt gratulations to all of the winners for their outstanding work. In our province, two winners were selected: Award for Outstanding Achievement went to the exhibition A Seat at the Table: Chinese Immigration and British Columbia, and Award for Distinguished Service went to Kirstin Clausen, of Britannia Mine Museum and Executive Director of Heritage BC.

Award for Outstanding Achievement: Exhibitions: A Seat at the Table: Chinese Immigration and British Columbia

The Awards of Outstanding Achievement recognize exceptional museum projects in different categories including: Stewardship of Collections, Audience Outreach, Exhibitions, Research and Social Impact. The Exhibitions category recognizes temporary, permanent, or traveling exhibitions that effectively and distinctively contribute to increase public understanding. A Seat at the Table is timely project that connected students, museum personnel, cultural organizations, and governments to design and populate two unique but complementary multimedia exhibitions in Vancouver, one in Chinatown, and one in the Museum of Vancouver.

Award for Distinguished Service: Kirstin Clausen — Britannia Mine Museum

The Award of Distinguished Service recognizes significant contributions by individuals to the Canadian museum sector throughout the course of their careers. Kirstin Clausen has earned this award after 30 years of extensive involvement in the cultural industries of BC, working hard to improve the province's museums and their associations, contributing significantly through her work with the British Columbia Museums Association, Barkerville Heritage Trust and currently as Executive Director of Heritage BC.
