Bids Accepted to Host the 2014 & 2015 ArtsBC Conference and AGM

ArtsBC has held a conference every year since its inception in 1979. The conference brings together representatives from community and regional arts councils, other arts and culture organizations and individuals engaged in arts based community development. The conference program offers professional development workshops, information sessions, panel discussions on a range of topics and issues relating to the practices of community arts organizations, as well as social and networking opportunities. Delegates may also connect with colleagues from other regions, share stories and experiences and learn from each other. The conference includes the organization’s annual general meeting.

Whenever possible, and depending on financial and other considerations, the location of the annual conference shall alternate from year to year between a community within Metro Vancouver and a community outside Metro Vancouver. As the 2013 conference was held in Vernon, priority for 2014 will be given to bids received from organizations within the Metro Vancouver region.

Who can bid?
ArtsBC will accept bids from all member organizations. Your proposal should state why your organization would like to host and why you think your community and organization would benefit. 

Preferred dates for 2014 & 2015
As the conference has been presented typically in spring, preferred dates identified for2014 are Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 or Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 (dates are chosen to avoid conflicts with BC Arts and Culture Week, Easter and Mother’s Day). ArtsBC will consider alternate dates, however we must host our AGM by June 30, which is within sixty (60) days of our fiscal year end.

2015 Conference
ArtsBC also welcomes bids for 2015 at this time. Preferred dates are Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 or Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 or Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2. 

Deadline for Submissions
Proposals received by Friday, June 14 will be considered. Proposals will be accepted by mail, fax or email. Please note we will acknowledge receipt of all bids by email.

A decision will made and delivered to successful bidders (by email and/or phone) before Friday, June 28. Dates and location will be announced in July to members and other stakeholders via our e-newsletter.
