Financial Fitness Workshops for Not-for-Profit Arts & Cultural Groups

Vancity and the City of Vancouver have recently partnered to present a series of Financial Fitness seminars designed to help arts and cultural groups with the basics of operating financially healthy and resilient organizations.

Not-for-profits always operate in the arena of change, and in the current economic climate, ever more uncertainty. The goal of the Financial Fitness series is to help with that resiliency and to demystify some key financial, legal and accounting concepts.

Topics include:

  • Cash-flow management
  • Accounting best practices
  • Governance and legal matters
  • Operational tools and metrics

Not-for profit arts and cultural organizations currently assisted through the City of Vancouver through Cultural Services (either through a grant or provision of space) are eligible to register for these seminars at a nominal rate.

Capacity is limited to 30 participants and to increase access organizations are encouraged to register only one person per workshop.

Workshops run from 9 a.m. to noon on the following dates:

  • Friday, November 22, 2013: Cashflow Calisthenics
  • Friday, November 29, 2013: Enterprise Exercises
  • Friday, December 6, 2013: Accounting Athletics
  • Friday, December 13, 2014: Legal Limberness

Registration Fee: $20 per workshop (tax included) or $60 for all four. Participants will receive a Financial Fitness handbook and refreshments and baked goods will be served.

Advance registration is required. Visit https://vancitycityofvancouver.eventbrite.ca/ to register online.
