Government of BC’s Destination Events Fund for Arts and Culture: A Driver of Tourism and Economic Growth

In 2025, the provincial government of British Columbia launched the Destination Events program, a funding initiative aimed at enhancing BC’s reputation as a leading events destination and tourism hub (Destination British Columbia, 2025).

Expanding upon the successful former Tourism Events Program, the Destination Events Program will provide up to $5 million annually to help communities host tourism, arts, cultural, and sports events (Destination British Columbia, 2025). The initiative aims to support hosts by covering costs such as venue rentals, equipment, staffing, and other operational expenses (Lunaba, 2025).
