Job Description:

The Program Assistant will support the Langley Arts Council’s on-going Events/ Classes and Workshop Programming to implement, improve, and expand these programming streams.
This position is being offered in collaboration with Culture Canada Works.To be eligible, students must meet all of the following requirements:
- Registered as a student in a recognized Canadian institution
- Legally allowed to work in Canada according to the laws and regulations of BC
- Either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person granted refugee protection under the law

Responsibilities:

 Answer phone calls, and direct inquiries.
 Provide general support to visitors, members, and volunteers.
 Communicate with clients, customers, members, staff, and supervisors.
 Liaise with artists, vendors, partners, volunteers and venue staff to ensure smooth logistics for classes and events.
 Manage event and programming timelines, budgets, and administrative requirements.
 Coordinate event permits, room rentals, contractor agreements, insurance, and health/safety needs for programming.
 Support event and classroom setup, on-site staff/volunteers and event takedown.
 Develop and distribute marketing materials to maximize event attendance and community engagement.
 Coordinating volunteers for events; including assessment, recruitment, and placement
 Identify and follow up with potential sponsors and partners and actively seek funding opportunities to support events and programs.
 Prepare post-event and class evaluations and reporting.
 Attending and overseeing community events and classes on behalf of the Langley Arts Council.

Qualifications:

 Able to work independently and collaboratively as a team.
 A keen eye for detail.
 Be organized and responsible
 Excellent correspondence (internally and externally).
 Must be a team player. The Arts Council is a collaborative environment, and we are looking to find an addition to our hard-working team.
 Someone who takes both initiative and direction.
