Elia Kirby Productions Ltd (EKP Ltd), dba the Great Northern Way Scene Shop (GNW), provides production services and scenic fabrication for cultural and corporate projects. GNW works on the unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ/sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. Located at the western edge of the False Creek Flats and within the Arts Factory building, GNW is dedicated to supporting Metro Vancouver's cultural community while providing employment to local artisans and craftspeople.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for project and client management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Estimates, negotiates, plans, supervises, and ensures the delivery of contracted client projects within agreed-upon budgets and schedules. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Determines the costing of design and/or projects for clients
• Prepares and sends project estimates and quotes for designs and/or projects to clients and outside organizations as requested
• Responsible for allocating all resources and informing the finance department of relevant information related to project expenses
• Assists Project Leads in analyzing designs and/or projects in preparation for construction to fit within approved budgets and schedules; may be required to prepare drawings for the purposes of construction and/or installation of designs and/or projects
• Maintains communication regarding construction, budget, and schedule with clients or client representatives, and between all relevant personnel
• Researches and identifies required materials related to the manufacturing of specified projects in cooperation with other Project Managers and the finance department
• Oversees human resources in collaboration with other Project Managers, Project Leads, and other lead staff as required
• Sources, contracts, and liaises with outside contractors and suppliers as required to complete the build and/or installation of client designs and/or projects at GNW or outside locations
• Supervises all production activities in cooperation with Project Leads (Head Carpenters, Head Painter, and Head Fabricator) during the building, installation, and de-installation of approved and contracted designs and projects
• Supervises the installation of the completed design and/or project at the off-site location; supervises other personnel when required
• Prepares, as necessary, final reports and invoices on projects, including but not limited to project personnel, material inventory, and rental equipment used on designs and/or projects
• Monitors and manages GNW resources relating to safety and installation equipment at shop and non-shop locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Related post-secondary training and/or a minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in the field of theatre, event, and entertainment production
• Knowledge of production, safety, and employment standards, best practices in the arts and entertainment industry, and procedures relating to those standards and practices
• Demonstrable success at project delivery in both short-term and long-term integrated projects
• Competency with project management components, including planning, budget and timeline management, scope management, risk management, and timely decision-making
• Ability to lead and work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Effective facilitator with strong interpersonal, decision-making, and organizational skills
• Ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to a fast-changing environment
• Good working knowledge of CAD software (such as Vectorworks or Rhino), Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workplace, email communication, and database software
• Knowledge of building materials and material procurement is an asset
• Professional experience as a Technical Director, Scenic Designer, Scenic Painter or Scenic/Construction Carpenter, or Stage Manager is an asset

REMUNERATION:
This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours per week. Regular shop hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with some evening and weekend work based on project needs. The starting hourly wage range is $29.00–$37.50, plus the opportunity to enroll in the group benefits plan after a successful three-month probationary period.
