Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled, motivated Marketing and Communications Manager to help grow audience engagement and visibility for one of Canada’s leading dance organizations. Join us in amplifying artists’ voices and expanding the role of dance in Vancouver’s cultural life.

As a key team member, you will lead marketing and communications initiatives that increase awareness, deepen engagement, and support revenue generation. You’ll work closely with Programming, Development, Outreach, Membership, Venue teams, and the Executive Director.

Schedule
Full-time (37 hours/week). Evening/weekend work required during events; banked hours support flexibility.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Lead marketing and communications strategies across digital, print, and media
• Support sponsorships and partnerships that drive revenue
• Manage box office (on-site) and ticketing system (contracted out/ online)
• Promote programs, artists, and venue activities (on/ off-site; on and off-line)
• Share marketing knowledge with artists, members of The Dance Centre
• Contribute to major initiatives, including Dance in Vancouver and on-site partnership events (we collaborate with organizations such as: Push Festival, Chutzpah! Festival, Vancouver International Dance Festival, Dancing on the Edge Festival, Queer Arts Festival, Music on Main, Matriarchs Uprising etc.)

Qualifications:

About You:
You are organized, self-directed, and collaborative, with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You are comfortable working in a dynamic arts environment and value both creativity and data-informed decisions.
You Bring:
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Relationship-building confidence
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Adaptability and curiosity about evolving marketing tools
• Commitment to supporting artists and the arts sector
Qualifications
• 3–5 years’ experience in the performing arts (dance an asset)
• Experience engaging diverse audiences and partners
• You do not shy from public speaking, and have great presentation skills
• Budget coordination experience, reporting
• Digital marketing and social media expertise
• Strong copywriting and editing skills
• Familiarity with Mailchimp, CRM systems, Canva, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite

Remuneration:

$58,000–$61,500 annually (based on and non-negotiable, based on current budget). Three weeks vacation, paid statutory days, paid one week December closure and Spring long weekend. Health benefits, $500 professional development allowance, $150 networking allowance. Complimentary tickets to all TDC shows.
