Job Description:

This fall we present the western Canadian premiere of Mary Jane by Amy Herzog, running October 23–November 1, 2026 at Studio 16. We're looking for a skilled makeup/wig artist to design and apply a bald cap for one actor across our production run. The cap needs to be seamless and fully convincing to an intimate audience — clean edge blending, accurate skin-tone matching, and a look that reads as genuinely shaved rather than covered. This is a great opportunity for undergrads or recent grads looking to build their portfolio and gain hands-on experience working alongside a professional cast and an established Vancouver theatre company.

Responsibilities:

Scope: 1 makeup test, 11 show calls, and 2 dress rehearsals, October 21–November 1, 2026
Stipend: $750

Qualifications:

Experience with bald cap application (latex or vinyl), including edge-blending and skin-tone matching
Comfort working with actors in a live performance setting, including quick pre-show turnaround
Reliable availability across the full run — this is a nightly commitment, not a one-time application
Strong attention to detail; portfolio or reference work in SFX, character, or theatrical makeup preferred
Students/recent grads of a recognized makeup or SFX program welcome to apply
