Organization Description:

The Jericho Arts Centre is a 135-seat performance venue located in a historical building, just off NW Marine Drive in the park by Jericho Beach. It is operated by a non-profit society – Friends of Jericho Arts Centre Society (FoJACS). The Jericho Arts Centre is home to our Resident Theatre Company, United Players of Vancouver, guest Theatre companies, and other members of the artistic community who wish to rent the Centre.

Volunteer Opportunity Description:

We are looking for a person who loves the theatre and who would be interested in joining the Board of the Friends of Jericho Arts Centre Society (FoJACS) as our Communications Officer. You would be in charge of the Jericho Arts Centre website. You would also act as a liaison between the Jericho Arts Centre and the guest companies who are renting the theatre for their productions.

Responsibilities:

-Manage the social media accounts.
-Maintain JAC website with show posters, descriptions, ticket details (the guest companies should provide this information)
-update the online JAC calendar
-Liaise with guest company producers to ensure correct marketing assets
-Send out Constant Contact e-Blasts to subscribers
-Maintain social media presence on Instagram and Facebook
-Proactively source marketing opportunities for JAC
- Attend monthly JAC board meetings - communicate goings on and be available for action plans as needed. The FoJACS Board usually meets on the first Saturday morning (10:30am to 12:30pm) of every month. If it's a holiday weekend, we usually meet the following weekend.

Qualifications:

- being comfortable with the process of updating websites
- familiarity with Social Media- Facebook, Instagram, X
- interest or experience with marketing
- an enjoyment of working with theatre people
- a sense of fun
