Purpose of the Call:
The Chilliwack Museum and Archives (CM+A) is seeking a Ukrainian artist to create and display a singular or collection of art pieces that respond to Canada, Here We Are! — an exhibition celebrating Ukrainian Canadians. The art will be on display from February 1, 2026, to May 16, 2026.
Canada, Here We Are! Celebrating Ukrainians in Canada is a travelling exhibition created in partnership with the Royal BC Museum (RBCM), Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Vancouver. The exhibition looks at and celebrates the more than 1.3 million Canadians who can trace their ancestry to Ukraine. It showcases Ukrainian Canadian history and culture, and the enduring impact Ukrainians have had on life in Canada.
Who is eligible/encouraged to apply?
We are looking specifically for Ukrainian artists.
The exhibit Canada, Here We Are! focuses on the histories and experiences of the Ukrainian community, and their settlement across Canada. We are looking for an artist who can share their experience as a Ukrainian person living in the local community through their artwork.

Submission Requirements:
Artist Statement: describe the proposed artwork and your interest in the project. You can submit a written document (maximum 2 pages) or a recorded video (MP4 file).
Artist portfolio (up to 10 images of past work): highlight artwork that showcases your style, approach, and interests.
Up to 2 images of the proposed artwork: this should propose a concept, not a finished product, and demonstrate your style and the direction you’d like to take this project. Artists retain copyright over their proposals.
Community engagement strategy specific to the artist’s proposed project.
If including existing artwork, submit images of the work to be included.
Proposed schedule with project deliverables to complete artwork by installation date; the artist is expected to adhere to the submitted schedule.
Brief summary of materials and estimated budget to create the proposed artwork.
Submitted artist information form (attached at end of call) and contact information for two references.
FEES/COMPENSATION:
CARFAC fees will be used to determine remuneration.
