CALL FOR ARTISTS:
The West Vancouver Community Arts Council is excited to work in partnership with the Kay Meek Arts Centre to program art exhibitions in the performing arts venue’s two theatre lobbies at 1700 Mathers Ave, West Vancouver.
Who Can Submit
Submission is open to emerging and established artists working in any medium, excluding freestanding sculpture, audio, video, and installation. One submission per artist. Preference will be given to North Shore–based artists.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking art that reflects and examines our community and the broader world; that presents new ideas and thought-provoking concepts; that celebrates, deconstructs, and recontextualizes traditional art forms and subjects; and that encourages creativity and diversity.
The Kay Meek is a public facility associated with the School District of West Vancouver and regularly used by secondary school students, so subject matter should be appropriate for that setting.
Medium to large artworks only (maximum width 48”; maximum height 48”).
Work must be gallery-ready—framed or with finished edges—and have appropriate hanging wire or D-rings, as the venue uses a hook-and-chain display system.
Artists should be ready to exhibit as early as late February 2025.
Selection Process
Submissions will be adjudicated by an Exhibition Advisory Panel composed of professional artists and curators. The panel will select works based on the mission and criteria of the program. Selected artists will be scheduled for a 5–6 week group exhibition of 2–3 artists, as determined by the panel.
