Call for Artists Description:

The Amelia Douglas Gallery at Douglas College is calling for submissions by Indigenous artists and makers for the annual group exhibit, kʷәcstәxʷ planned for September 18 –December 15, 2025.

All artistic media are welcome! Paintings, carvings, beadwork, photography, mixed media, textiles, print, sculpture (no video installations, sorry!)

By embracing the essence of kʷәcstәxʷ (cause them to see; “show”), we see and support the diverse expressions of Indigenous artistry. This celebration is not merely an exhibition but an opportunity for our College and wider community to bear witness to the vibrant contributions of Indigenous artists in the community.

This presentation is planned to coincide with the annual New West Culture Crawl, October 4–5,2025.

How to Apply:

To be considered for the show, please submit photos of up to three works for consideration (including name, artistic mediums/materials, and dimensions for each piece). Tell us a little about yourself, your nation, and your work. Just a few sentences will do.

Please send your submissions directly by email to artsevents@douglascollege.ca no later than July 11, 2025. Decisions will be made by mid-August. While we appreciate all submissions, only successful candidates will be contacted.

If you have any questions about the submission process, or would like more information, please reach out to Kennedy Rud, rudk@student.douglascollege.ca.

Fees/Compensation:

No Fees and No Gallery Commissions—100% of sales go directly to artists.
