CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Future Arts in Residence (FAiR) is a studio residency program for women of colour, marginalized genders, and prioritizes artists with disabilities in their emerging practices and creative processes. The goal of Future Arts in Residence (FAiR) is to provide a free studio residency space for artists from October 2025 to April 2026.

The residency will include 3 artists sharing a residency space, with opportunities for collaboration and for hosting workshops. It is flexible and self-directed with support from the Future Arts part-time staff. The program is rooted in transparency and working outside traditional patriarchal and colonial structures. The aim is to support artists, provide stability, and offer a free space to explore ideas.

KEY INFO:
– Application deadline: September 2, 2025 at 11:59 PM (PST)
– 3 artists with disabilities will be selected
– Notification date: September 19, 2025 (before 11:59 PM PST)
– Selection committee: Future Arts team and past FAiR artists

Eligible mediums: design, drawing, illustration, installation, creative writing, literary arts, mixed media, painting, photography, print media, sculpture, and textiles.

We are looking for artists who are:
– d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing
– Mad artists
– Neurodiverse artists
– Artists with physical disabilities
– Chronically ill artists and/or those with dynamic disabilities

Priority is given to BIPOC artists, LGBTQIA2S+ artists, and underrepresented artists living with varying disabilities. All self-identifications are welcome.

FEES/COMPENSATION:
– Free studio residency from October 1, 2025 to April 16, 2026 (studio rent valued at $27,157.92)
– $1,000 artist fee to support production and creation
– Up to $500 reimbursement per artist (transportation, food/hospitality, supplies, materials)
– Opportunity to participate in Eastside Culture Crawl in November 2025 (application fees covered; optional)
– Optional year-end public programming participation (symposium, panel talk, or workshop) with $515 honorarium (CARFAC 2026 fees)

Artist Fees TOTAL: $1,515, plus reimbursements.
