CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Calling artists. Applications are now open for the City of Abbotsford 2026 Artist in Residence: “Exploring Knowledge.” This self-directed residency encourages collaboration between the artist and Abbotsford Libraries and FVRL to strengthen community exploration of knowledge in all its forms through art. The residency runs from May to October, 2026.

The goals of this community-engagement-focused residency are to:

  • Create accessible opportunities to experience art, culture, and heritage in the community that contribute to the residency theme of “Exploring Knowledge.”

  • Provide participatory activities that promote exploring knowledge in its various forms to residents and visitors of all ages.

  • Provide free, fun, and accessible activities for the community to discover, experience, and participate in art, culture, and heritage.

The selected artist will provide 12 engagement sessions over the course of the residency, encouraging research, engagement, and presentation at partner venues, City facilities, and events. The City of Abbotsford handles all venue booking, scheduling, and program marketing.

Abbotsford- and Fraser Valley-based artists will be prioritized in the selection process.
