CALL FOR ARTISTS:

Call for Participation: BC Heritage Week | February 13–21, 2027

Theme: MADE BY HAND

Heritage BC invites museums, heritage organizations, cultural groups and community organizations across British Columbia to take part in BC Heritage Week 2027, a province-wide celebration of heritage running February 13–21 under the theme MADE BY HAND.

Each year, BC Heritage Week brings communities together to explore and celebrate the people, places, stories, traditions and skills that shape our shared heritage. This year’s theme celebrates the skill, care, time and practice behind the things we make, from traditional crafts and heritage trades to contemporary art, making and the DIY movement.

Host an event or activity that connects your community with local heritage. Offer a hands-on workshop, demonstrate a traditional skill, share stories and objects, organize an exhibition or explore the making traditions that have shaped your community. This year's Heritage Week coincides with Family Day, Canada’s National Heritage Day, Black History Month and Valentine's Day, making it a great opportunity to bring generations together to share skills, stories and traditions.

Heritage BC provides resources, promotional tools and guidance to help organizations plan, host and promote their activities. Registered events are featured in the online BC Heritage Week calendar, and events registered by January 20, 2027 are eligible for additional promotion through Heritage BC’s social media channels.

HOW TO APPLY:

Ready to participate? Register your event, explore this year’s theme and access promotional resources, including free printed posters, graphics and tips for encouraging your municipality to issue a Heritage Week proclamation.
