Call for Artists Description:
The Performing Arts departments at Douglas College are seeking musicians and/or musical groups interested in performing in the 2026/2027 afternoon performance series.
The performance series offers free weekly concerts during the fall and winter semesters for our students, staff and community members. The series features professional musicians based in Metro Vancouver, College faculty, and students from the Douglas College Music Department. Each concert includes a performance of up to 40 minutes and a 15-minute talkback. The mandate of the series is to present music that represents a diversity of genres/styles and performance practices. We also want students to learn about the artistic process and the lived experience of professional artists through storytelling and/or a Q&A. Submissions that demonstrate skill and expertise in this area will be prioritized.
Douglas College is committed to fostering an equitable, accessible, and inclusive campus where all people feel a sense of belonging. We strongly encourage applications from people who identify as a member of an underrepresented or marginalized community, including IBPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+. We invite applicants to self-identify in their application if they feel comfortable doing so, as priority will be given to these individuals or groups.
For additional information regarding the application process and the performance series, please contact Saghi Ehteshamzadeh, Arts Events Officer at artsevents@douglascollege.ca.
