Call for Exhibition Submissions
/ORGANIZATION: Sunshine Coast Arts Council
DEADLINE: Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 4 pm
WEBSITE: https://sunshinecoastartscouncil.com/call-for-submissions/
CALL FOR ARTISTS:
We welcome proposals each year for exhibitions at the Arts Centre in Sechelt. The Arts Center includes three exhibition spaces: the Doris Crowston Gallery, comprised of two spaces, and a Project Room for digital practices. As we have limits for what we can display, we encourage you to visit the Arts Centre or join one of our online information sessions before submitting a proposal.
Our Approach: Reflecting our program priorities for the coming year, we are highlighting three areas of interest that we strongly encourage proposals for.
Art and Ecology: We are interested in practices across all mediums that connect with questions of local ecologies, climate change, land, and our relationships to the Coast.
Disability Justice and Access Intimacy: We are excited to highlight artists who bring creative thinking to accessibility and help to expand our collective awareness.
Printmaking: Building a community connected to the Print Studio at the Arts Center, we are interested in proposals from artists on the Coast (Lower and Upper) who work in the expansive field of printmaking and print media. We are launching an annual Print Exhibition, and proposals from artists could include a solo or group exhibition, or an interest in being included in the curated group exhibition.
We will also accept proposals for exhibitions and artwork beyond these themes. Our annual Friends of the Gallery exhibition highlights an open opportunity for all our members to engage, and we will continue to offer platforms to showcase the work of our local artists and artisans.
What we are looking for: We are looking for submissions from a great range of art mediums and forms (analog and digital). We have a commitment to education and engagement, and present at least one workshop/talk/program with each exhibition. We encourage submitting artists to be willing to present an artist talk or demonstration, or have a suggestion for another program (performance, music, dance, etc) related to their exhibition.
While membership in the SCAC is not required in order to make a submission to the gallery, selected artists must become members if they are selected to exhibit.
