CALL FOR ARTISTS:
This is an OPEN CALL, meaning artists do not have to be a member of the LAC to apply.
Apply to participate in the Langley Arts Council's 5th annual Beyond Barriers Exhibition!
This call is open to all BC based artists who identify as disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill, or who experience barriers related but not limited to mental health, physical disabilities, intellectual or developmental disabilities, learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and others), sensory disabilities (such as being Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or low vision), and speech and communication differences, whether your experience is temporary or lifelong, diagnosed or self-identified, visible or invisible.
Artists are invited to submit artwork on any theme or subject matter that is important to them. While you are welcome to explore themes related to disability or neurodivergence, artists are not required to do so. This is a space to celebrate your creativity on your terms.
The Langley Arts Council invites artists to submit 2D work. All perspectives and all subject matters are welcome.

– Artworks submitted to the Langley Arts Council must not have been created at an art class, lesson, or paint night.
– Artworks must follow the Arts Council's definition of 'Original Artwork'
Original artwork is created at the hand of the artist who is submitting the work. The creation process must be the effort of a single individual to convey their own personal interpretation of an image or multiple images. Submitting artists are allowed to use reference photos to inspire their work, but artists must use their own design and composition for the final artwork to be considered an original.
If you are submitting a photo medium, please ensure the main focal point of the image was taken by the artist and is not a stock image. We do allow stock images to be used in submitted artworks. However, it must not make up more than 30% of the entire finished artwork.
